Course Development Assistant Plus (CDA+)
Cover letter and resume due 12:00pm PDT on Friday, June 3, 2022
CDA+ Job Description
As a Course Development Assistant Plus (CDA+) for the IntroSems program, you will collaborate with the IntroSems team, including other CDA+s, CDAs, and administrators, to provide ongoing pedagogical, technical, and logistical support for instructors teaching IntroSems. Specifically, you will be trained in evidence-based practices on how to create inclusive learning environments and work closely with instructors to incorporate those principles into the course design, assignments, and activities of assigned IntroSems. For example, you may help with the setup of the Canvas course site, the creation of informal assessments of student learning, the arrangements for a field trip, or the training of students on how to use programs to complete multimodal projects (e.g., podcasts or websites). If you enjoy learning and collaborating with others to create welcoming, dynamic learning spaces, then this is the position for you. You do not necessarily need to come in with knowledge about teaching, learning, and academic technology. We are looking for people with an openness to learn, research, experiment, and problem-solve.
CDA+ Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with one or more IntroSem instructor each quarter to assist on the design and implementation of the course based on instructor need (e.g., Canvas, Poll Everywhere, in-class activities, fieldtrip planning, guest speaker arrangements).
- Attend and participate in weekly team meetings with other IntroSem CDAs, CDA+s, and administrators.
- Mentor CDAs, who are hired and supervised by instructors to support a specific course as opposed to by the IntroSems program. You will be the point person for one or more CDAs to provide guidance, advice, and support as they perform their CDA responsibilities.
- Attend quarterly training sessions to expand and deepen your expertise around teaching, learning, and technology within the context of small seminars.
- Perform other program administrative or mentoring duties as assigned.
